Journeys: The Road to Safety, Stability and Success
Journeys: The Road to Safety, Stability and Success is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping people move from crisis to stability through housing support, mental wellness advocacy, resource navigation, education, and community empowerment.
Our organization was founded on one powerful belief:
No one should have to walk through life’s hardest seasons alone.
While Journeys serves individuals from all backgrounds, we recognize that Black women often carry unique burdens created by systemic inequities, trauma, financial hardship, caregiving responsibilities, discrimination, and the expectation to remain strong regardless of what they are facing. Too often, that strength comes at the expense of their own well-being.
Our purpose is to help transform the lonely walk of Black women into a supported journey, while extending compassion, opportunity, and resources to anyone seeking a path toward healing, stability, and success.
Our Mission
Journeys exists to empower individuals by addressing the root causes of instability through housing assistance, mental health advocacy, education, community partnerships, and access to life-changing resources.
We believe that healing begins when people are supported, heard, and connected to the services they need to rebuild their lives.
Our Vision
We envision communities where every person has access to safe housing, quality mental health support, economic opportunity, and a compassionate network that encourages healing, resilience, and personal growth.
We dream of a world where asking for help is seen as strength, not weakness, and where no one is forced to choose between surviving and living.
What We Do
Journeys works to remove barriers by providing or connecting individuals with resources including:
- Housing assistance and homelessness prevention
- Transitional and supportive housing programs
- Mental health awareness, advocacy, and referrals
- Crisis intervention and resource navigation
- Financial literacy and economic empowerment
- Employment and career development
- Education and workforce readiness
- Life skills coaching
- Wellness and self-care initiatives
- Domestic violence and trauma-informed support referrals
- Mentorship and community support networks
- Connections to local organizations and essential services
Our Purpose
Journeys was created to remind people that healing does not happen in isolation.
We understand that instability is often connected to more than one challenge. A person experiencing housing insecurity may also be struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, unemployment, grief, or financial hardship. Instead of treating these issues separately, Journeys seeks to provide holistic support by connecting individuals with resources that strengthen every aspect of their lives.
For Black women especially, Journeys exists to challenge the expectation that they must carry every burden alone. We believe strength should be supported, not assumed.
Our Core Values
Compassion
Every person’s story matters. We lead with empathy, dignity, and respect.
Mental Wellness
Mental health is just as important as physical health. Healing is essential, not optional.
Housing Stability
Everyone deserves a safe place to call home. Stable housing creates the foundation for healthier lives and stronger communities.
Equity
We work to reduce barriers and expand opportunities for historically underserved communities.
Empowerment
We equip individuals with the knowledge, confidence, and resources needed to build independent, fulfilling lives.
Community
Lasting change happens when people know they belong. We believe no one should have to face hardship alone.
Hope
Every journey has the potential for a new beginning.
Our Promise
Journeys is more than a nonprofit.
We are a community that believes every person deserves safety, every voice deserves to be heard, every mind deserves care, and every journey deserves support.
Our commitment is simple:
To replace isolation with connection.
To replace instability with opportunity.
To replace hopelessness with purpose.
And to ensure that no one, especially Black women who have so often been expected to carry life’s burdens in silence, has to walk their journey alone.
